In this contribution, the author, having outlined certain fundamental principles that characterized the 1975 reform of family law — principles which marked a decisive break from previous legal frameworks — proceeds to identify the most significant developments that have occurred over the past fifty years through notable legislative interventions and key decisions of both national and European jurisprudence. These developments have, inter alia, rendered the legal framework governing adoption more functional, ensured a more effective protection of the best interests of the child in situations involving parental crisis, and introduced specific provisions aimed at determining the legal statu. . .
